![]() ![]() For the purpose of our topic, we can broadly classify the characters into 3 groups: 1. In some cases, entire lines of text will appear as dots if there's even one special symbol in the line, such as a double-quote (") symbol or a degree ( °) or diameter ( ⌀) symbol, or special letters, such as ā, ķ, š, etc. They are drawn from the things that the character says and does, as well as what other characteristics say and do about/with them. The text may be darker, lighter, unclear, choppy, distorted, unidentifiable as text, or display as a different font. When fonts are not embedded then the PDF may show strange things such as small squares or nothing at all when you open the PDF.
